Loyle Carner – “about time / lyin”  With a huge summer ahead — consisting of a Glastonbury The Other Stage headline slot, an acting debut and a fourth studio album — London’s sincerest spitter Loyle Carner shares a duo of heartfelt singles. “about time” is rich and inward, a depiction of fatherhood, whilst “lyin” is the most genteel and stripped back we’ve ever heard Carner.  Nourished By Time – “The Passionate Ones” Continuing to be a pillar of towering creativity, the enigmatic Nourished By Time announces his debut XL Recordings album — due late August — with the release of fresh cut “The Passionate Ones”. Take the time — there’s a lot to unpack. Tyla – “Bliss”  Ahead of her hugely anticipated trip to London for All Points East alongside Doechii, RAYE and JADE in August, South Africa’s current biggest musical export, Tyla shares a vibrant new single, “Bliss”. James Massiah – “Bounty Law”  Artist, poet and DJ James Massiah shares perhaps his most coherent musical project to date in “Bounty Law”. The eight-pronged body of music is personal and nocturnal, merging a variety of styles, with Massiah’s rapping narration impossible to not pin to the every word of.  Chaos In the CBD – “A Deeper Life” Kiwi brotherly production duo Chaos In The CBD are the name on every one’s lips right now, and with this stunning debut album, A Deeper Life, they affirm the hype. Traversing through genres like a walk in the park, it’s a vibrant and immersive, refined and deeply captivating body of work. Nectar Woode – “Only Happen”  As soulful and piercing as ever, British-Ghanian singer-songwriter Nectar Woode proceeds to refine her approach and provide intricate beauty with “Only Happen”. Produced by the excellent Jordan Rakei, Woode’s layered vocal swims warmly among the decadent backdrop.   Man/Woman/Chainsaw – “MadDog” Leading London’s avant garde undergrowth, stellar six piece Man/Woman/Chainsaw unleash another jaw-droopingly creative gem. “MadDog” is blasé yet barnstorming, brimming with bohemian sonic choices and cinematic character.  Alison Goldfrapp – “Find Xanadu” Still very much nestled into pop’s cutting-edge, Alison Goldfrapp announces her new album Flux will be released in August via her very own newly launched label A.G. Records. Teaser single “Find Xanadu” is an electro-pop banger, with glistening synths and soaring vocals.  Jords – “Reparations” Croydon rapper Jords is building up steam ahead of the release of his June 6th-set new opus, “Mixtape J”. LEILAH – “Good Shit”  Zambian-Scottish London-based creative KILIMANJARO is among the most exciting DJ/producer’s in the capital. His latest, “Good Shit”, is exactly what it says on the tin—bouncy rhythms, vibrant melodies, and an all round great time. Mona San – “From the Ashes” A fierceness blend of hyper pop, moody electronica and experimentalism, genre-bending talent Mona San sounds unlike anything else on their new EP, “From the Ashes”. The project’s title track is particularly affecting, with hypnotic glitched out vocals, lively rhythm shifts and immersive textures. Quinton Barnes – “Sober for the Weekend”  Montreal-based artist Quinton Barnes is an enthralling listen. The second single shared from his forthcoming album BLACK NOISE, due early June, “Sober for the Weekend” is chaotic and challenging, with snappy flows atop a daring and disorderly instrumental. KITSCHKRIEG x Dre Six – “Slipping Away” “Slipping Away” sees Manchester rapper Kenzo Str8Drop and Dré Six trading honest, emotionally charged verses about the difficulty of escaping street life, even when success is within reach. The track is taken from KITSCHKRIEG and Dre Six’s collaborative album London’s Calling, which dropped yesterday. Footsie & Strategy – Theatre of Dreams Legendary grime producer Footsie has joined forces with Mancunian MC Strategy for a 10-track album, Theatre of Dreams. The instrumentals make the hair on your arms stand up, and the bars are witty and bodacious.  V.I.C – “VÄRIANT” London rap star V.I.C flexes his sharp, conscious commentary across his new mixtape VÄRIANT. An enigmatic display of ambition and integrity, the young talent emerges both poignant and self-aware while exploring identity, development, resilience, and the perils of a young artist in London building foundations beyond his years. Empara Mi – “On Call For You” Alt-pop provocateur Empara Mi returns with ‘On Call For You’, the latest instalment of her unraveling conceptual album ‘Monsters & Masochists’. This self-written, self-produced seductive track dives into the soft ache of obsession, blending shadowy R&B, ethereal pop and cinematic soundscapes.  The post Wonderlist appeared first on Wonderland.

    Today's Release Highlights (5/9/2025)

Time for the latest piece of our new segment from the TND writers: Today's Release Highlights. Today brings with it many noteworthy album releases, and we chose some to point out to you that we hope don't get lost. Check them all out below! Adult Mom – Natural Causes [Epitaph] Since their 2021 album Driver, Adult Mom bandleader Stevie Knipe has been through the mill, facing down two cancer diagnoses and other intense challenges in their personal life. Armed with a more profound understanding of their queerness and a willingness to explore darker themes in their work, Natural Causes is perhaps Adult Mom’s first true band record, with all four members (plus engineer Chance Milestone) taking a “very communist” approach to recording and production, resulting in a high-contrast set with jangle-pop highs and sparse, existential lows. “We were all making choices as a unit,” says Knipe. “Every guitar tone, every sound you hear, was all decided together. We’re all the collective producer. I’ve never made a record like that before.” – Alan Pedder AVAWAVES – Heartbeat [One Little Independent] For their third album Heartbeat, London-based duo Anna Phoebe and Aisling Brouwer, aka AVAWAVES, expand on their cinematic earlier work with ten songs that combine their contemporary classical chops with ambient washes and a throughline of emotional grit. While their previous album (2021’s Chrysalis) featured just one song with vocals, Heartbeat makes good use of Imogen & The Knife frontperson Imogen Williams, who sings on six of the album's 10 songs – though only "Sleep Tight" is overtly lyrical. Built largely on violin, piano, and synth, the album also features guitarist Ben Wright and cellists Klara Schumann and Phillipp Johan Thimm. "We wanted this album to feel raw, honest, and intuitive," AVAWAVES explain. "There are themes of resilience, determination, grit, and an optimism in forever chasing the dawn after dark. It’s the bursting of bubbles and realising how much lighter everything feels without them." – Alan Pedder billy woods – GOLLIWOG [Backwoodz Studioz] Following his acclaimed 2023 collaborative album Maps with Kenny Segal, billy woods returns with his latest studio album, GOLLIWOG — a blend of cinematic horror and humor. The album explores topics ranging from African zombies to even time-traveling trap cars. A slew of producers contributed to Golliwog, including longtime collaborators Kenny Segal and The Alchemist. Guest features include Bruiser Wolf, Despot, al.divino, and Yolanda Watson. It's a danse macabre to kick off the summer. – Ricky Adams Deradoorian – Ready For Heaven [Fire Records] Completely self-made, this latest album from Deradoorian finds the former Dirty Projectors member embracing her most pop-leaning impulses and refusing to settle on one particular sound. Lyrically, it tackles themes of mental health and the downfall of humanity, with an “avowedly anti-capitalist” message at its heart. Far-reaching in its influences, Ready For Heaven borrows production inspiration from a motley bunch of jazz, funk, industrial, dub, and “weird krautrock” records that Deradoorian admires. “I don’t even feel like a songwriter at times,” she says of her fascination with production. “I feel like someone who is just inspired by so much music. And I want to try it all out! […] It’s just a weird thing to do it by yourself!”  – Alan Pedder Kali Uchis – Sincerely, [Capitol Records] In her debut for Capitol Records and third consecutive year releasing a full-length album, R&B singer-songwriter Kali Uchis presents her most personal project to date. Sincerely, began as a series of letters to herself, friends, and loved ones, but took on a deeper meaning after two "life-altering" events: the birth of her first child and the recent loss of her mother. The second single and closing track, “ILYSMIH” (I Love You So Much It Hurts), is a soft ballad about motherhood — written while recovering from labor in the hospital — dedicated to her newborn son with partner Don Toliver. Described in the liner notes as “a sanctuary, an escape from the chaos, a search for peace, and an act of catharsis,” her fifth studio outing is a departure from the vibrant reggaeton, merengue, and latin pop sound of last year's ORQUÍDEAS. A dial back to graceful, slower, yet powerful tunes, like the lead single "Sunshine & Rain". – Daniel Gonçalves Benítez Kara Lis-Coverdale – From Where You Came [Smalltown Supersound] From Where You Came is composer Kara Lis-Coverdale’s first major project in eight years, marking her return to the world of electronic music composition. The album, written and recorded across several continent, aims to piece together the sounds of electricity. Coverdale pulls inspiration from 19th-Century program music – where instrumental arrangements come together to tell a story – and 1970s modular music, marrying the two to craft a pulse. Her latest single “Offload Flip” demonstrates a taste of the record’s overall energy, finding a beat in the warbling of the synthesizer and sampled music. – Victoria Borlando Maia Friedman – Goodbye Long Winter Shadow [Last Gang Records] Maia Friedman is back with her sophomore record as a solo artist. Releasing four singles thus far, the Dirty Projectors member gave listeners a sampling of the soft, intimate instrumentation one might hear throughout the record. “Russian Blue,” a short song about the artist’s childhood cat, features a clarinet solo, and “In A Dream It Could Happen” weds the plunky piano with strings. Goodbye Long Winter Shadow lyrically analyzes Friedman’s personal life, offering reflections from childhood to now in short, poetic vignettes. – Victoria Borlando Nils Frahm – Night [LEITER] Composer and pianist Nils Frahm is back with a new EP, Night, which follows last year's album Day, and includes five new tracks. As with Day, each of the new pieces is a solo piano composition, ranging between five and eight minutes. Performed on a Klavins M450 piano – which was, at the time of its creation in 2015, the world's largest upright piano – the German artist recorded Night at the Funkhaus complex in Berlin, and produced and mixed the EP himself. – Jeremy J. Fisette PinkPantheress – Fancy That [Warner] The 20 minute mixtape Fancy That from British producer/pop star PinkPantheress is out today via Warner. The tape's nine tracks all clock in under three minutes, a musical philosophy the "Boy's A Liar" singer adamantly stands by. In addition to PinkPantheress herself, Fancy That includes production contributions from The Dare, Askel Arvid, and Count Baldor. Lead single "Tonight" uniquely samples Panic! at the Disco deep cut "Do You Know What I'm Seeing?" from 2008's Pretty. Odd.. PinkPantheress says of the mixtape, “This feels like the most tied together project i’ve applied myself to as an artist and for my fans who have been with me for years, I hope they can hear the signs of growth in me as an artist.” – Leah Weinstein QUINQUIS – eor [Mute] This second album from Breton singer/songwriter and producer QUINQUIS takes its name from a word meaning ‘anchor’ in Émilie Quinquis' ancestral language, and was inspired by time she spent sailing from France to the Faroe Islands, via Ireland and the Scottish isles. Mermaid folklore meets modular synths on eor, which seeks to recontextualize the mythology of sea sirens for modern times. The album features guest vocals from Welsh artist Cerys Hafana on “Blaz En Holen” and queer South African trailblazer Desire Marea on “Inkanuko”. – Alan Pedder The Wonder Years – Burst & Decay (Vol. III) [Loneliest Place On Earth / Hopeless Records] Philadelphia’s emo heroes The Wonder Years return with Burst & Decay (Volume III), the third installment in their ongoing series of stripped-down EPs featuring guest collaborations. As expected from the band, the release is full of personal and introspective lyrics from frontman Dan Campbell—one track even includes a recording of his son’s in-utero (not a Nirvana reference) heartbeat. Guest features on Vol. III include Joe Taylor of Knuckle Puck, Zayna Youssef of Sweet Pill, and Ryan Heagy of Origami Angel. – Ricky Adams

All The Best New Music From This Week That You Need To Hear

Getty Image/Derrick Rossignol Keeping up with new music can be exhausting, even impossible. From the weekly album releases to standalone singles dropping on a daily basis, the amount of music is so vast it’s easy for something to slip through the cracks. Even following along with the Uproxx recommendations on a daily basis can be a lot to ask, so every Monday we’re offering up this rundown of the best new music this week. This week saw Lorde do some wondering and Megan Thee Stallion put up with no nonsense. Yeah, it was a great week for new music. Check out the highlights below. For more music recommendations, check out our Listen To This section, as well as our Indie Mixtape and Pop Life newsletters. Megan Thee Stallion — “Whenever” It’s been less than a year since Meg’s latest album, Megan, but a new era is already loading. Last week, she shared “Whenever,” which sees her flexing her signature confidence. Kali Uchis — “ILYSMIH” Uchis has been through some ups and downs lately: She had a kid, then lost her mother. On the new single “ILYSMIH,” she appreciates what she has: “I love you so much it hurts / And I can’t stop the tears, my baby’s really here / I love you so much it hurts / He showed me what my life was really worth / Down here on earth / And it hurts.” Young Thug — “Money On Money” Feat. Future Thug has been setting plans in motion since getting released from jail. He has a new album coming and last week, he linked with Future for the flexing “Money On Money.” PinkPantheress — “Stateside” PinkPantheress has blossomed into one of the biggest breakout stars of the past few years, and she’s just getting started. When sharing “Stateside” last week, she said, “So excited to share with you my favorite song off of the project, ‘Stateside.’ It explores my growth as an artist and I hope everyone enjoys it as much as me.” Lorde — “What Was That” After an initially failed pop-up event that ended up working out, she shared a new single to mark a new era: “What Was That” is a market shift from the sunshine-soaked Solar Power. Benson Boone — “Mystical Magical” Trolls be damned, Boone has a lot going on right now. He’ll be on Saturday Night Live soon, and ahead of his album American Heart, he dropped a catchy new single, “Mystical Magical.” Shaboozey and Jelly Roll — “Amen” Shaboozey’s Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going was a major breakout for the country star, and as the project’s one-year anniversary approaches, he has expanded it with a deluxe edition. New offerings include “Amen,” a collab with fellow country favorite Shaboozey. d4vd — “Is This Really Love?” Sure, d4vd bungled a backflip at Coachella. Don’t let that take away from the 20-year-old’s music, though: His new album Withered is here, led by tracks like the smooth “Is This Really Love?.” Sault — “T.H.” Sault had some seasonal fun with the release of their latest project, 10: Over Easter Weekend, the project dropped on Friday, disappeared, and returned on Sunday. Fittingly, the project also has a heavy gospel influence. Coco Jones — “On Sight” Jonas has emerged from the child Disney star life and come out a confident R&B favorite, whose debut album, Why Not More?, just dropped. She even got some acting in with the funny video for “On Sight.”

Kali Uchis Finds Peace In Both The ‘Sunshine & Rain…’ On Her Vulnerable ‘Sincerely’ Single

The wait for a new Kali Uchis album is coming to an end. In May, the Grammy Award-winning singer’s new English-language album, Sincerely, will hit streaming platforms. Today (March 28), Uchis shares the forthcoming project’s lead single, “Sunshine & Rain…” The raw record continues in Kali’s profoundly delicate songwriting and even gentler vocal production. While “Sunshine & Rain…” at its core is about romantic empathy during a relationships peaks and valleys, Uchis’ voice is a warm sensation felt only from a constant ray of light. “I do nothing in the dark ’cause I believe in karma / When will I forgive my heart for always getting me in trouble / God knows I play my part and always understands me / So used to everyone misunderstanding / Wish I didn’t let my emotions run the way they ran me / Gave you my heart to hold, will I end up empty-handed / Riding through the storm brought me much-needed clarity,” she sings. In the chorus, Kali delicately emphasizes the strength that comes along with understanding, singing, “Through sunshine and rain, as seasons change / We all need somebody that makes the Earth feel heavenly / Maybe I’ll be that somebody ’cause you’re that someone to me / Through sunshine and rain, as seasons change.” During a chat with 10 Magazine, Uchis let supporters know that Sincerely was birthed from a “life-altering event.” “The album is about the complexities of life and finding ways to find joy in life despite the world,” she said. “Finding ways to appreciate every moment and not take life for granted. Treat every day special. It’s my most existential and honest work. It’s definitely the most beautiful body of work to me, and it’s going to be, for me, the most meaningful and impactful.” But “Sunshine & Rain…” demonstrates that she’s found a way to channel those debilitating emotions into an evolved set of songs rather than banishing herself into void of bitterness.

View this post on Instagram   A post shared by @kaliuchis The post Kali Uchis anuncia Sincerely, su nuevo álbum de estudio appeared first on GAY TIMES.
